McLean Capital is a bottom up fundamentally driven research firm. We focus on the Cash Flow Statement as it validates the quality of earnings as measured by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

As a measure of shareholder value, we feel our cash-flow metrics have more predictive powers than net earnings in determining a company's true intrinsic value. Reported earnings, by contrast, can be all too easily manipulated as a result of the flexibility GAAP allows in terms of discretionary accounting policies.
